For issue 254 of United We Stand, I caught up with Rob Cross, singer/guitarist with Orphan Boy, and former favourite at BUSK at The Garratt. He told me about the Orphans’ recent reformation, and their brilliant new album ‘Coastal Tones’, which i really do recommend. I bumped into the band in town after the United-Liverpool game in September, so arranged to do an interview with them for the next issue now that they were back out playing music again.
I also spoke to Rory Sakalas, a professional backline technician for the likes of Jack Savoretti, The Ting Tings, Echo and the Bunnymen, Courteeners and The XX. He told me about life behind the scenes setting up a stage, touring the world, and watching the football on the road.
Part 2 of the interview with Rory was in issue 255, along with an interview held with Manhester band The Slow Readers Club, who have just finished their winter tour in the year they released their second album ‘Cavalcade’, another great album of 2015.
